We spent the weekend doing some yard work and vegging. We removed an ugly ivy plant that was… well… ugly. Bill envisioned growing sweet corn along the wall where the ivy was. I was thinking of something more permanent like a couple of Japanese maple trees and either hydranga or lavender. His idea is much cheaper, but will require more work. This is still up for discussion. Sunday we finished cleaning up the backyard and I spent a little time prepping the areas where we’ll plant some of our summer fruits. The pesky Bermuda grass has creeped into the beds where I normally plant my tomatoes and melons. Last year we purchased a Garden Claw to loosen the soil and rip out the Bermuda grass when it’s creeped into a bed where it doesn’t belong. It’s not the most efficient garden tool, but it does the job and my arms get a good workout in the process. We’re not quite ready to rent or purchase a tiller.

We watched a mini-marathon of Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel. And we eneded up getting some King crab legs for dinner. They were only $7 per pound! Bill also grilled some pork rib steaks. I’m unsure what the real name for the cut is. It’s not technically a pork chop or a loin, but it’s some sort of shoulder cut. Either way it was very good with some crusty bread and Lucilles BBW sauce.

Bill flew to the Bay Area this morning because someone snagged an extra ticket for him to see Late Night with Conan O’Brien this evening. Conan is taping at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco all week and jetBlue is a sponsor. jetBlue got a bunch of tickets for employees for tonight’s taping and Bill was lucky enough to be included. It’s good timing that jetBlue’s flights to SFO begin this week with the first flight arriving Thursday. All the employees attending the show will be in uniform. Keep an eye out for Bill, he’ll be wearing khakis and a jetBlue polo shirt! I wish we had heard about this much earlier. We would have tried to get tickets for both of us before they were all gone.
