Random Tommy-ness

Sorry for the long gap in between posts, I have no excuses.

Last week Tommy had this four-month well baby visit. He weighed in at 15 pounds, 10 ounces and was 25 inches long. That seems pretty huge to me but it’s pretty normal, 60th percentile for weight and 50th for height.

He’s fascinated by looking in the mirror now. And the pediatrician’s office has a big one!

His newborn hair is steadily falling out, he barely has enough to give him a faux-hawk anymore. His hair is even thinner now than it was when we took these photos. I’m a little sad to see it go, but we’re very interested in seeing what color and texture his hair will be when the new stuff grows in.

While waiting for the nurse to come back to administer his shots he fell asleep. It was his nap time anyway, but it was definitely a rude awakening. He did so well!

Passed out after dinner. Bill’s mom put this onesie on him with hopes he would take longer naps during the day… since it says Rock All Night, Sleep All Day. It didn’t work.

Sporting a spiffy new sweater that Aunt Jannie made for him. She sent it just in time too as it fits perfectly and won’t fit for very long!

Two weeks ago we spent a long weekend in the Bay Area celebrating the start of Chinese New Year and a housewarming party for James and Kristen.

One thing that Tommy has been doing lately is sleeping longer in the mornings. So I can get up, take a shower and get dressed while he’s still asleep. It’s been quite nice.

And the photo ops are nice too.

Saturday morning Bill, Bill’s parents and I met up with his aunt and uncle at Mountain View Cemetery in the Oakland hills to visit Bill’s grandmother. The weather was beautiful, as it tends to be whenever we visit. We often joke that Bill’s grandma must have some pull with the weather gods.

“Introducing” Tommy to Bill’s grandma.

Saturday afternoon I spent hanging out with Mom at the new house that she and Dad purchased, waiting for a new mattress to be delivered. Michael and Sara will be renting the house from Mom and Dad along with two roommates. Tommy was the first to sleep on the new mattress.

Saturday evening we spent at James and Kristen’s house along with everyone. We had a wonderful housewarming party with great friends and family and fabulous food. They have a wonderfully large dining room that fit all of us with an extension of their table. To me, the highlight of the evening was near the end when James and Kristen announced that they are expecting their second child at the beginning of October!! Such exciting news!

On Sunday we went to Pleasanton to our friend Jillian’s 4th birthday party. It was at a great place called Super Franks, that has all sorts of wonderful play areas for kids. Way better than Chuck-E-Cheese’s. They had her party in a private room that had all kinds of toys, play houses and an inflatable jumper. That plus twenty-five preschoolers made for a chaotic party. But everyone had a great time. We enjoyed visiting with Jillie’s mom and dad, Jim and Kendra, who got to meet Tommy for the first time. The real treat was meeting the newest member of their family. Tyler was born just five days prior to the party. He was a few weeks early, but a wonderful surprise.

I was utterly floored at how tiny he was… Tommy was the same size just four months ago!

On the way home the pilot turned out to be a friend of Bill’s and let us take Tommy into the flight deck. Not that he will remember it, but the photo op was nice.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a doorway jumper. Since Tommy loves using his legs so much, we figured he would enjoy jumping in one of these.

He loves it! I’m working on getting a good video of him jumping. He loves to jump a few times and then stand up straight and let his body spin. Other times he’ll jump a couple of times and then spend a few minutes licking the strap or chewing on the front of the seat. Since the seat is a little small for him still, one arm almost always ends up coming out of the leg hole. It’s pretty funny to watch.

Last night Tommy had a nice bath, where we washed off some more of his hair and enjoyed the funny facial expressions he gives us.

Playing after the bath. When he’s hungry, he likes to chew on whatever ends up near his mouth… hand, clothes, toys… my nose.

I love that he giggles when tickled now.

Last night he was finding a lucky money envelope mighty tasty. This photo also shows how much his ears are starting to stick out too. It’s getting kind of ridiculous.

Have a nice weekend!

Thanks, Alex, for sharing.  Hope we have a chance to meet Tommy this summer.  Not an original observation, but he’s growing so fast.

There are some photos of Tommy in which I see a strong resemblance to Bill.  The last one, for example.

He is growing so fast and getting cuter by the day!  Thanks for sharing with us!

Now that I’ve had my warm and fuzzy dose of Tommy, I will indeed have a great weekend. Thank you honey.

I love that fact I have the opportunity to hang out with that little bundle of joy on a regular basis. It’s the best. He makes me smile and feel so happy.
