We have been enjoying some really beautiful weather lately with sunny skies and temps in the 80s. Weather likes this really makes me wish I had more time off from work.
Last week Chris and Tawn flew to town from Thailand. We picked them up at LAX and enjoyed a nice dinner in at C&O Trattoria in Marina del Rey with Jackie and Arthur. Tommy got to meet Chris and Tawn for the first time. He was a little cranky, but did really well over all. Dinner was delicious too.
Later that afternoon we stopped by our friend Vu’s house to visit with him and his family. His wife Polly gave birth to their new baby Lauren about six weeks ago. Lauren is adorable with a ton of hair and beautiful eyes. Her brother Andrew and sister Kathleen really seem to welcome the new little one.
For dinner that night we went to Mom and Dad’s house. Chris and Tawn joined us along with Jan, Mark, the Yeom’s, Grandma Reeves, Patrick, Melissa, Michael and Sara. Mom made a big Shepherd’s Pie and Jan made some Irish soda bread. Everything was delicious and Bill even scraped the peas from mine. Everyone enjoyed visiting with Tommy since it had been a little while since they had seen him.
We flew home Sunday morning and drove to downtown Long Beach to Bixby Park for a birthday party for Andreas and Francesca (their birthdays are at either end of March). Their son, Elias was born just a few hours after Tommy. The weather was beautiful and we had a great picnic.
Oh yeah, I also got my haircut last week. The post-pardum hair loss was driving me crazy, so I chopped it. I really like it so far. It is easy to maintain and dries pretty quickly into a “do” that I like… so no need to do anything with a hair dryer or flat iron. I don’t know if I’ll keep this style forever, but I will at least keep it through the summer.
Back to the picnic…
Here you can really see how much hair Tommy has lost. It looks like it’s done falling out for now and starting to grow back. He’s finally getting some color in his eyebrows too.
There were games and plenty of birthday cake. It is always fun watching adults participate in sack races and three-legged races… especially when some get quite competitive.
We all had a nice time and Tommy slept soundly in the car on the way home…
…not sure why he was sticking his lower lip out.
Some random photos from the past couple of weeks:
The Disney Store near my office was closing and I picked up Mike & Sully plush cars. Tommy seemed to like them… and tried to eat their horns.
Tommy is sleeping in his crib a lot more now. It’s been a little fun guessing what side of the crib he will end up on each morning since he wiggles around so much in his sleep.
Daddy’s work is very exciting, isn’t it?
As the drool lands on the laptop…
Tommy is rolling over like a pro now and I bet he would love to be able to sit up. This is the best he can do right now… you have to prop him on his legs and he’ll stay this way for a few minutes, hunched over. He’s working on it.
He also loves sticking his tongue out.
