So, our Labor Day weekend was chalked full of visits with family and friends. Both Tommy and I were recovering from a cold… but we didn’t let it mess with our plans for a fun weekend.
Saturday afternoon we had a small baby shower for Kristen. If you can’t tell, it was Sweet Pea themed.
We had some yummy sandwiches and cupcakes (thanks, Patrick for making the cupcakes!) We played some fun shower games… like guess the circumference of Kristen’s tummy and Baby Shower Bingo. It cracked me up how bingo suddenly became rather competitive. It was a fun, chill afternoon.
Kristen showing off her belly at 35 weeks… and the fun bumblebee tattoo. She’s as big as I was right before Tommy was born. We’re all guessing this little one will arrive a bit early too.
On Saturday afternoon we had a big birthday party for James, Melissa and me. James’ birthday is September 3rd and Melissa shares a birthday with me on the 6th. We had some yummy BBQ with side dishes and salads.
Bill showing us some of the delicious smoked salmon the Mom and Dad had sent from Alaska.
James’ cousin, Matthew was visiting from Virginia. This was his first trip to California and they made sure to show him all of the sights. The boys even did an overnight trip to Lake Tahoe.
Jackie was trying to teach Tommy some soccer moves.
I have no idea what was so funny.
Tommy enjoyed playing in the sprinkler with Jackie and Dad. It wasn’t intended for him to get completely soaked, but I guess it was inevitable.
We borrowed Matthew’s fancy-schmancy macro lens to take some photos of Dad’s day lilies. It was a fun lens to play with.
For dessert, Patrick made a delicious lemon cake along with a bunch of cupcakes for a cupcake bar.
Here Melissa is demonstrating what to do to customize your cupcake.
At first, I couldn’t figure out what Bill was taking a photo of… yep, he’s trying to take a sneaky photo of Kristen’s belly.
On Monday, Mom, Jackie and I went to the de Young Museum to see some Impressionist works. I’ll post about it a little later.
