As many of you know Mom had, to use Patrick’s words, “some work done under the hood” a little over a week ago. She had open heart surgery to have the tricuspid and pulmonary valves replaced. Yesterday she was finally able to go home. This weekend we flew up to visit with her. I brought her a framed photo of Tommy to have by her bed since we weren’t able to bring Tommy in to see her. Babies just have too many germs! She did get to see him from about twenty feet away and he happily waved and blew kisses to her. While we took turns visiting with mom and making fun comments about her hospital food, Tommy ran around in the hospital atrium. We had a delicious lunch at the Palo Alto Creamery, and while I was sipping my wonderful chocolate malt, the sky opened up and let loose one heck of a hail storm.
All in all Mom is tremendously happy to be home and is recovering very well. I’m sure she will write her own blog post about it when she’s ready.
This week will be busy with travel as Bill, Tommy, and I will spend Thanksgiving in Las Vegas. We are still deciding where to have dinner on Thursday… going back and forth on whether we should go to a nice restaurant or a nice buffet. On Friday or Saturday (depending on the kid) we will fly back to the Bay Area to spend Thanksgiving with family. Patrick is taking the reigns and will be cooking dinner for us and has a very beautiful meal planned. Having the meal on Saturday is making it much easier for all of us and I’m really looking forward to the family time. Stay tuned for pictures!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Saw your mom’s facebook status update and am glad she’s doing so well in her recovery. Can’t you just spray Tommy from head to toe with Lysol or something? =D
