The Saturday before our move, we held a little get-together at our house to bid farewell to the amazing friends we’ve made during our six years in southern California. James and Logan were also visiting that weekend from the Bay Area so they could join Bill for a shooting match on Saturday morning. Our friend’s Chuck and Damon drove up from Carlsbad where Chuck lives. Damon was in town from Texas for Comic-Con as he and Chuck try to go every year. Jackie made it over, as well as Louie and his girlfriend Nicole. The mommies, daddies and babies from our baby group also attended. Conveniently, we also used this opportunity to clean out our fridge and freezer as anything perishable wasn’t going to survive the move.
Bill smoked a tri-tip we’d had in the freezer and brought ribs and sausage that were left over from the shooting match he attended. They apparently had way too much. He also made some of his delicious garlicky hummus.
Saturday morning Tommy joined Logan in some Phineas and Ferb.
Jackie picked up a bunch of fun bubble wands and toys and the kiddies had fun chasing bubbles.
Water, juice or beer??
Playing Ring Around the Rosie. It was funny educating the few who didn’t know the origins of that song.
I wish I knew what was going through Max’s head here.
The tunnel is always a fun toy to have on hand.
I would love to know what they were talking about here!
Logan pushing Max on the chair…
and Max pushing Logan. I’d like to know how that conversation went.
Max and Tommy look like they’re on a mission.
Chuck makes such a great role model.
Tommy’s first ice cream sandwich.
Eliana’s first ice cream sandwich… I think she liked it!
I think Natalie is trying to escape!
Auntie Jackie and Eliana really hit it off.
We did our traditional group shot. Some day we’d love to do one with the daddies too, but it’s already chaotic enough with just the mommies.
And we always try a group shot with the kids… we’ve never had one where everyone is happy. And yes, they are all standing in our raised vegetable bed. It kept them somewhat contained as they all needed a little help to get down. Insert evil laugh.
As friends were leaving for the evening, we were handing out random items from our fridge and freezer. Jackie ended up with quite a bit, which I don’t think she was thrilled about since she was getting for her own move the following week. Her move was significantly shorter than ours.
I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed spending time with the wonderful friends we’ve made. This is by far, the hardest I have been dealing with about leaving southern California. Everyone will truly be missed.
